I think I will be trying out kitty litter as a growing medium. It's certainly cheap, and if it doesn't have the additives that usually go into it, and as it's composed of clay, it should work out fine. Apparently, it's something that the hydroponics folks have been using for such a purpose for years.Since I have 2 trays awaiting gravel when I have enough money to fill them, I think that this new experiment shall go on in the biggish pond area. I hope that the ph level in the water does not move much with it's use. I'm getting might fond of the koi I put in there.

Hmm. Not matter what I seem to add, this pond still looks like a pile of junk.

Redoing some things-- including the pond liner. Chickenwire is meant to keep the dang coons out. I'm going to restock with butterfly koi.
