Yesterday, so I was sick as a dog. I did it to myself, searching many stores for a either a smaller deep cycle battery, or a small dc water pump. I had 2 pumps die in the biggish pond, all because I didn't check to be sure they were clean. Truthfully, I didn't because they were cheap. Only now, the pumps are sold out.

Worms..

I just added earthworms to all the remaining growbeds. I bought them from Wal-mart, and they were packaged in some weird smelling rubberized stuff instead of, say, paper pulp. They are moving rather slow, as though they are either sick or too cold. I may have to buy more, later on.

Not huge issues with the fish. They come up to the top to eat, and have some schooling behaviors. I am worried though, as a stray cat has been using the beds to pee in.

Did a "duh" search when I looked up duckweed. It turns out it has the same features as a cool weather plant. Thus, the perfect place to grow it is my cool weather plant area: the front pond.

By the sheer amount of strawberries in the second growbed back here, I'd say that the nutrients are low. I haven't tested the water at all since I put the fish in.

Surviving goldfish--the last 3 that is. I still have guppy puppies in there, as well as the cichlids. All appear healthy, so far.

Since there's this hornworm (which I can't find) somewhere in that mess of tomato vines, I decided to pick a bunch of tomatoes before the critter could munch on them. They'll not be as sweet when ripe as vine ripened ones, but at least I got them before it did.
